I absolutely love the PEMDAS that looks like hopscotch. Students need to see add/sub and mult/divi left to right and not PEMDAS... awesome idea!

These are great! I love your foldable & graphic organizer ideas. Will definitely be using these!

For the coordinate plane, I have my students draw a "C" through the quadrants to help them remember the order in which it's numbered. This really helps them!

ReplyDeleteI saw your comment again earlier this morning, and it just led to an epiphany of sorts. When I introduce this to my Algebra 1 students later in the year, I want to have a slide in my Smart Notebooks that says "This lesson is brought to you today by the letter C." I can even include a few pictures of Sesame Street characters. Then, later in the lesson, I can show them how the quadrants are numbered as if we were drawing the letter C. Oh my goodness. So excited now. Thanks for sharing!

DeleteSarah - do you have an editable template for the real number system and subsets of the real number system?

ReplyDeleteHi Sarah - Just wanted to see if you've seen my post. =) I'll be teaching rational and irrationals starting this week so I want to put my final touches on my IAN!

ReplyDeleteI just posted them. I posted PDFs and my original files. You'll need to download Open Office, however, if you want to edit the originals. Hope this helps!
