After looking at your newer post, I think it's brilliant!! I was also wondering about the homework, but what you are saying about having students writing like 4 problems with explanation makes sense. Can you tell me more about what students are supposed to do with the left hand side?Christyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09633299836813229670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091979517567705761.post-68239616194422499022012-07-31T14:21:01.183-05:002012-07-31T14:21:01.183-05:00I'm planning on not putting hw in the notebook...I'm planning on not putting hw in the notebook. My hope is that students will really try to engage with the material of each lesson and create their own left page. I want to give students a list of ideas for the left page. I read somewhere where students were only allowed to use a certain left page format twice each unit. This encouraged them to interact with the content in different ways.

I also read somewhere else about allowing the students to "Pick Four" of their homework problems to write up neatly, with explanations, on the left side.

I'm sure my approach to interactive notebooks will evolve as I use them with students for the first time and figure out what works and what doesn't work.Sarah Carter (@mathequalslove)https://www.blogger.com/profile/11839095945000612533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091979517567705761.post-33438151811142773042012-07-31T13:39:08.549-05:002012-07-31T13:39:08.549-05:00I love the idea of the planning sheets - it's ...I love the idea of the planning sheets - it's almost like a "storyboard" of your notebook! I am so excited to try these this year... After all is the left side used for practice or student clarifying?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091979517567705761.post-26101478212666810992012-07-30T23:07:19.164-05:002012-07-30T23:07:19.164-05:00After reading about INBs over the past few weeks I...After reading about INBs over the past few weeks I am totally committed to implementing them this year with my math 9 and 10 classes. They are very similar to "model books" that I used years ago but had moved away from. I love the idea of sketching out a plan and I especially want to plan out what things students will/can do on the left side to show their learning and reflections. Thanks for the idea!Michelle Burtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17795604411279529337noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091979517567705761.post-24534529916789200312012-07-30T22:28:02.116-05:002012-07-30T22:28:02.116-05:00And now I'm feeling bad because I wasn't d...And now I'm feeling bad because I wasn't doing any planning on my INBs at all. Don't forget to keep your own IN as an example for every class you teach. Kids who are absent can refer to yours as an example.Megan Hayes-Goldinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11235614310269066451noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091979517567705761.post-67134942811919900962012-07-30T18:17:39.387-05:002012-07-30T18:17:39.387-05:00Love this planning page.
