I taught 8th grade algebra for ten years and I finally decided to move up to the high school level in my district this year. This is the first time to visit your blog. I started with a google search for relations/functions and found your blog. I have a very challenging class and needed some different ideas to help them learn and retain the information. Thank youThe Meadowshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01726903093205107894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091979517567705761.post-14894082583054202002015-12-10T11:20:52.317-06:002015-12-10T11:20:52.317-06:00Would love to share ideas! We do a ton of reflections in my teacher education program (I'm sure you're more than familiar with that) and I've noticed that I've started to add reflections to the lesson plans and unit designs I'm tasked with creating. I have to say, when students take them seriously, it really is a helpful check for understanding. Also, I'm not surprised your students don't "know" how to write a sentence -- I've encountered that before. Hopefully when I become a full-fledged English teacher we can exchange some ideas? I love your use of color and fun design.

Mic~~~https://www.blogger.com/profile/01119134931536902621noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1091979517567705761.post-58660118302055818592015-12-09T19:18:34.292-06:002015-12-09T19:18:34.292-06:00I use a proficiency sheet for each quiz/test that ...I use a proficiency sheet for each quiz/test that specifies each concept/skill and the student's mastery level. They get specific feedback on their "gaps" and then they have to write a reflection specifying what went well and an action plan to fill those gaps. We keep working on them in class, but they work on them at home as well. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
